What Are Tonsils?
Tonsils (tonsils) are a couple of lymph nodes that are located on two sides of the throat, behind and above the tongue. Aggression of bacteria in the tonsils leads to inflammatory processes. The most common cause of tonsillitis is a beta-hemolytic streptococcus (Streptococcus), but it is possible to infections and viruses such as Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). Inflammation of the tonsils is a frequent medical complication, especially in childhood. Treatment and therapy of tonsillitis depend on whether the patient is a child or adult, but in most cases the disease is successfully treated with antibiotics. Inflammation of tonsils is called tonsillitis. Inflamed tonsils become swollen and very red, breathing becomes difficult, so patients are forced to breathe through the mouth, though, and then have the interference of air flow, due to increase in the tonsils or the appearance of the third tonsil, which may also be swollen. The voice of the patient is changing and there comes to an increase in nasal overtones. Swallowing is difficult and painful, and there is a constant sore throat. On infected tonsils are noticeable white dots, which are full of white discharge. This is called “pus on tonsils”. Patient can also has a fever, and patients complain of feeling tired, fatigue, and poor general condition.
Tonsillitis Diagnosis – Pus on Tonsils
Your doctor can diagnose the disease based on history, clinical presentation and examination of the patient, a diagnosis is confirmed by culture of throat swab. During the examination a doctor can observe the characteristic changes in the tonsils and throat swab to determine whether the bacteria is present. Based on the findings of a swab of the throat doctor can determine the therapy because antibiotics treat bacterial infections, not viral, so it is necessary the patient’s throat swab.
Tonsillitis Treatment
Inflammation of the tonsils caused by bacterial infection is treated with antibiotics, usually penicillin and, unless the patient is too sensitive for some reason the Penicillin. Penicillin can be given orally, but in some cases is given in injections. For children who were under inefficient drug treatment, tonsillectomy is recommended. Tonsillectomy is the removal of current operations, and the patients are recovering well during the 10-15 days of surgery. Bee propolis is very efficient when it comes to tonsillitis treatment.
