What is Verruca Plana, Flat Warts Treatment?
Verruca Plana, Flat Warts
Verruca plana is the topic we promised to write about in our last article about plantar wart removal. As we stated in that article, warts are skin lesions caused by human papilloma virus (HPV), resulting transmission of the virus from person to person, or one person transmission of the virus from one place to another on the skin.
They occur at any age but are more common in children and young people. They can spontaneously disappear. On the other hand, in people with weakened immunity (e.g., after organ transplantation or in the case of HIV infection) may occur generalized changes in the skin or mucous membranes. In the area of the face and neck are mostly the young and thread-like warts.
Verruca Plana, Flat Warts Treatment
Not to be confused, verruca plana is known as flat warts. Flat warts, verruca plana treatment depends on the type of wart and its duration, patient age and the point where they are located. As already mentioned, there is the possibility of their spontaneous withdrawal. However, they can reappear in the same or new places. It is important to note that for the successful treatment is required an integrated approach that includes local treatment of changes, but also systemic immune system support and general measures for the prevention of the spread of warts.
That means a change in the method and style of living, therefore the active cooperation of patients and therapists.
The most common verruca plana treatment used in conventional medicine is cryotherapy or icing with liquid nitrogen, which is sometimes necessary to repeat after 2-3 weeks, electrocoagulation, excohleation, collodion coating or coating of 40%-percent salicylic acid that cause peeling.
Complementary medicine includes various topical preparations on flat warts, systematic application of remedies to boost immune system, as well as general measures for strengthening the immune system and prevent the emergence and transmission of warts. Verruca plana are usually removed by plants that contain salicylic acid and betulin and proteolytic enzymes, which soften the warts.
Salicylic acid is the most effective way of removing warts. Plants rich in the acid are bark of willow (Salix different species) and bark of birch (Betula – different types). Compress soaked with the inside of the bark should be changed every day during the week.

Aromatherapy offers efficient essential oils (check out article patchouli essential oil) with anti-viral activity. The most commonly used preparations are tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia), Ravensara (Cinnamomum camphora cineole chemotypes) and Eugenia caryophyllata. While some aromatherapists will recommend the application of tea tree essential oils directly on your skin, I personally would not give you that advice because the skin on face is very sensitive and essential oils can cause drying and irritation.
Since the emergence and spread of verruca plana favors weakening of the immune system we would also recommend use of supplements that contain antioxidants (vitamins A, C and E) and beta-carotene, green tea extracts, preparations of Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea – the best integrated suspension – SIPF – 1 teaspoon stir in half a glass of water and drink 2-3 times a day for 2 weeks), and according to some research also taking zinc can be used – for example, capsules zinc gluconate and picolinate 30 mg – 1 capsule daily with a meal – but not with milk or dairy products.
So, If you have flat warts on face it usually means you have to strengthen your immune system. We also recommend the proper and balanced diet with plenty of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants from fresh organically grown seasonal fruits and vegetables, unsaturated fatty acids from cold-pressed unrefined vegetable oils, avoiding saturated animal fats, refined carbohydrates, avoidance of smoking and alcohol consumption.
And what is always a bit forgotten because most do not have the time – daily moderate physical activity greatly affect the health and well-being, in the fresh air if possible. One good natural medicine is ipe rocho, taheebo tea, which is good for almost – everything! If flat wart removal remains unsuccessful and verruca plana reappear after treatments, the chances are that you have compromised immune system, and in this case, see a dermatologist help.
In next article we will speak more about verruca vulgaris. For the end, as usually, we give you some flat wart pictures. So, this was article about verruca plana and flat warts treatment, removal and we really hope you find it helpful.
